Forum Facilitator (Part-Time)

Make a Difference in the Lives of Older Adults Living In Erie County, Ohio.
We are seeking an engaging and organized Forum Facilitator to moderate educational
community forums that inform and empower older adults living in Erie County, Ohio.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys public speaking, facilitating respectful
discussions, and helping connect people with trusted information and community
resources.
Position Summary
The Forum Facilitator serves as a neutral moderator for community forums featuring
guest speakers or expert panels. Audiences typically range from 30 to 200, depending
on the topic. The facilitator introduces speakers, guides audience participation,
manages questions and discussion, interjects clarifying comments to prevent
misunderstandings and ensures forums remain on topic, respectful, informative, and on
schedule.
Forum Topics Often Include
Advance directives and end-of-life planning
Funeral planning and body donation
Grief, loss, and long-term care
Healthy aging and maintaining independence
Social Security and Medicare
Affordable housing
Property tax issues
Other emerging topics affecting the health, safety, independence, and financial
well-being of older adults
Responsibilities
Facilitate educational forums with professionalism and impartiality.
Introduce speakers and moderate audience discussion.
Encourage respectful participation and meaningful dialogue.
Keep the forum on topic at all time.
Keep the forum organized and on schedule.
Work collaboratively with Serving Our Seniors' Program Coordinator before and
after each event.
Responsible to the Director of Serving Our Seniors.
Qualifications
Excellent public speaking and communication skills.
Experience facilitating meetings, community events, educational programs, or
group discussions preferred.
Ability to remain neutral while encouraging productive conversation.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Interest in issues affecting older adults and community education.
Dependable and professional.
Schedule
Forum schedules are generally planned in three-month increments, allowing flexibility
and advance notice. Additional forums may be scheduled occasionally in response to
significant issues affecting the well-being of older adults in Erie County.
Compensation
$25.00 per hour
