Job Description

Sheet Metal Journeyman

Location: Central and Northwest Ohio

Service Area: Columbus, Delaware, Marysville, Marion, Bellefontaine, Kenton, Lima and surrounding communities

Job Type: Full-Time

About the Position

We are looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Journeyman to join our growing mechanical contracting team.

Our sheet metal work is primarily focused on commercial, industrial, and institutional HVAC systems, including ductwork, air distribution, equipment connections, and related mechanical systems.

We are looking for someone who understands how quality sheet metal installation should look, can read plans and drawings, can work independently, and takes pride in completing a job correctly.

What You'll Do

  • Install commercial and industrial HVAC ductwork and air distribution systems.
  • Install supply, return, exhaust, and other duct systems.
  • Install duct fittings, dampers, grilles, diffusers, louvers, and related components.
  • Install and connect ductwork to air-handling and HVAC equipment.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, plans, specifications, and layouts.
  • Perform field measurements and assist with layout.
  • Identify and communicate field conflicts or installation issues.
  • Coordinate installation with pipefitters, electricians, plumbers, and other trades.
  • Install equipment and components according to project requirements.
  • Perform work from ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and other job-site conditions.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Follow company and job-site safety requirements.
  • Complete work according to project specifications, quality standards, and schedules.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and modifications when field conditions require changes.

What We're Looking For

  • Journeyman-level sheet metal experience.
  • Strong commercial HVAC ductwork experience.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and plans.
  • Ability to perform field measurements and layout.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a crew.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Reliable transportation to job sites.
  • Ability to work safely in construction environments.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.

Strong installation and field experience is more important to us than shop fabrication experience.

Sheet metal fabrication experience is a plus, and as our company continues to grow, there may be opportunities for employees with fabrication skills to take on additional responsibilities.

Daily Job-Site Travel

This is a field position and daily travel is required.

Our employees travel to different commercial, industrial, and institutional job sites throughout our service area. Candidates should be comfortable driving to different job locations on a regular basis.

Overnight travel is generally not required.

Depending on the position, project, and circumstances, we may offer a company vehicle or vehicle allowance.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications
  • Health insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • IRA retirement plan with company contribution
  • Paid vacation
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance may be available for qualifying positions
  • Steady work and opportunities for advancement
  • Variety of commercial, industrial, and institutional projects
