Pay Grade 1:                           $14.157 per hour with consideration based on experience  

Ashtabula County Children Services is currently accepting applications for part-time Custodian position. Position is available for 20-24 hours per week. Must have good driving record and pass a drug screen.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general supervision of the Finance Director, the Custodian will:

• Performs a variety of tasks to ensure cleanliness of building and any other facilities (e.g., cleans all restrooms daily; sweeps and mops all floor surfaces; dusts furniture and fixtures; vacuums carpeting a minimum of three (3) times weekly; cleans all glass and mirrors; washes walls and windows; empties all waste containers daily; etc.)
• Ensures wet floor signs are posted for all to see; cleans walls, windows and ceilings, turns lights on and off as needed. Replenishes all paper products in restrooms and kitchens daily. 
• Return all machines to area leaving equipment clean and in a safe and orderly fashion. Keeps maintenance/utility room in good order.
• Assists in moving tables, chairs, and equipment as needed. Reports any need for equipment repairs to the Finance Director/designee. Stocks cleaning supplies and advises Maintenance Worker when a new order is necessary.
• Documents work in accordance with departmental procedures. 
• Meets job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
• Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• High school or GED; related experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience necessary to perform essential functions of position. 

EQUIPMENT USED:

• Custodial equipment (vacuum, mop, broom, ladder, etc.), hand tools, computer and other standard business office equipment. 

INHERENTLY HAZARDOUS OR PHYSICALLY DEMANDING WORKING CONDITIONS:  

The employee ascends and/or descends ladders, stairs, or scaffolds; has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.); is exposed to environmental conditions which may result in injury from fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poorly ventilated areas; is exposed to possible injury from hazardous gases, chemicals, flammables, or air contaminants; is exposed to possible injury from hazardous waste; is exposed to possible injury due to unclean or unsanitary conditions; is exposed to possible injury as a result of electrical shock; occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl on even and uneven surfaces; occasionally required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs.  *Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered medium work.

LICENSURE or CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid State of Ohio driver's license and maintain insurability under the County’s vehicle insurance policy. Must be able to successfully pass post-offer drug screen, physical and BCI fingerprint background check.
