Job Title: Equipment Operator (Water Metering/Water Distribution)

Hourly Range: $24.75 - $33.57 (Class I Water Distribution Certification) $26.81 - $34.43 (Class II Water Distribution Certification)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Equipment Operator is primarily assigned to the Water Meter Department, a division of the Water Distribution Department, under normal operating conditions. The position will spend the majority of its work time performing water meter related duties. The position may be reassigned from scheduled meter work to assist with the Water Distribution crew based on staffing needs, special projects, emergency response, or any other operational requirements.

As a public employee, this position is responsible for providing reliable delivery of utility services. This position requires consistent and prompt response to emergency repairs that occur outside of normal working hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 High school diploma or GED equivalent.

 Valid class B CDL with tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.

 Minimum of two years’ experience in the Underground Utilities or other closely related experience (construction, plumbing, HVAC, electrical or similar) is desirable.

 Possession or the ability to possess an Ohio EPA Class I Distribution license within 18 months of hire.

 Maintain residency as required by the City.

OTHER DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

 Extensive knowledge of water distribution, sanitary collection systems, and storm sewer collection systems.
