Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break. Overtime opportunities may be available.

Position Summary

A growing manufacturing company is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Carpenter - Mold Fabrication to build, modify, repair, and prepare molds and patterns used in the production of custom fiberglass and composite products. This position requires strong hands-on fabrication skills, accuracy, craftsmanship, and the ability to create complex shapes from drawings, templates, and specifications.

Candidates with experience in automotive body repair, collision repair, custom bodywork, wood fabrication, carpentry, mold making, pattern making, cabinetmaking, or related trades are strongly encouraged to apply. Many of the skills used in shaping, sanding, filling, contouring, surface preparation, and achieving smooth finishes transfer directly to mold fabrication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build, assemble, modify, and repair molds, patterns, plugs, forms, and related tooling used in production.
  • Fabricate components using wood, MDF, plywood, foam, fiberglass, composite materials, and other fabrication materials.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, templates, sketches, dimensions, and production specifications.
  • Measure, cut, shape, fit, and assemble materials accurately.
  • Create curved, radius, ornamental, and custom-designed shapes.
  • Perform sanding, grinding, shaping, filling, contouring, and surface preparation work.
  • Apply body filler and similar materials to create smooth, accurate surfaces and transitions.
  • Repair, rebuild, and modify existing molds as needed.
  • Inspect molds and patterns for dimensional accuracy, surface quality, defects, and damage.
  • Prepare molds and plugs to ensure proper surface conditions for fiberglass production.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, saws, routers, sanders, grinders, drills, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Collaborate with production personnel to resolve mold-related issues and prevent manufacturing defects.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other fabrication, mold repair, and production-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on fabrication skills.
  • Experience measuring, cutting, shaping, sanding, fitting, and assembling materials.
  • Ability to accurately work from blueprints, drawings, templates, and measurements.
  • Understanding of shapes, dimensions, contours, curves, and surface finishes.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.
  • Ability to identify defects and determine appropriate repair methods.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in carpentry, cabinetmaking, woodshop operations, mold fabrication, pattern making, automotive body repair, collision repair, custom bodywork, fiberglass fabrication, composites manufacturing, or related fields.
  • Experience working with fiberglass, resins, composites, or similar materials.
  • Manufacturing or production environment experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, climb, and work in various positions throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate fabrication tools and equipment.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment involving dust, noise, fiberglass materials, resins, adhesives, coatings, and other production materials while wearing required PPE.

Work Environment

This position works within a manufacturing and production environment involving fiberglass dust, sanding materials, adhesives, coatings, industrial equipment, and fabrication processes. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, eye protection, and protective clothing, must be worn at all times.
