Forge Impactor Operator
Job Duties
- Working with others as a team in a high pace environment.
- Set-ups and operating impactors, trim presses and bar shears.
- Start-up and operate machines to produce sample work pieces, observe operations to detect machine functionality and to verify that machine setups produce visually acceptable forging parts.
- Place hot forgings into trim press, using metal tongs, and step on foot pedal to activate trim press cycle, trimming excess flashing or steel from the forged parts. Unload finished parts with tongs into basket.
- Measure and inspect blank forged parts to ensure conformance to product specifications.
- General use of hand grinders for set-ups and maintenance needs.
- The ability to use the fork lift and overhead cranes when properly trained.
- Keep work area clean and free of hazards and debris.
- Safety / Quality / Production
- Computer Work: input data needed to operate automatic forging equipment and into our current operating computer system.
- Using measuring devices such as gauges, micrometers and calipers.
Requirements
- Heavy manufacturing experience preferred
- The basic ability to read, write and general math skills while using measuring devices such as gages, micrometers and calipers.
- The use of basic hand tools.
- Mechanical experience (preferred).
- The ability to work in a hot and noisy atmosphere.
Compensation & Schedule
- $21.10-23.60 per hr
