Job Description: The Stark County Community Action Agency in Canton, OH, is hiring a full-time HWAP Energy Services Intake Specialist.
Essential Functions (Overview):
- Carry forth the mission of Stark County Community Action Agency.
- Greet customer and provide face-to-face client assessments in their pursuit of obtaining utility assistance.
- Receive and screen applicant’s required paperwork for specific program applications, prior to the Intake Specialist interview.
- Photocopy and scan client documentation into the computer database.
- Multiline phone system - respond to all incoming client calls, answer questions and/or transfer calls to appropriate Intake Specialist or department.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, conferences, workshops and other career development and professional activities.
- Perform and/or assist with task essential for OEE or partnering HWAP agencies monitoring visits (administrative and technical) and other necessary functions for the program.
- Perform and/or assist with cross and new staff training.
- Perform and/or assist with program community outreach.
- Perform and/or assist with department data reports.
- Perform and/or assist with HWAP contractor production rotations process requirements.
- Embrace a team player atmosphere with the willingness to learn, cross train and perform other duties necessary to meet the department’s yearly production goals.
- Other duties as requested by supervisor.
Skills and Specifications:
- Knowledge and experience with OCEAN program (preferred).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- The ability to multitask effectively.
- Exercise good judgement.
- Understanding of diverse cultures.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Must have strong knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets and presentations (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with HWAP clients, referral sources and all other contacts.
- Exhibit excellent customer relation skills with all contacts including coworkers, clients and referral sources.
- Knowledge of basic math functions.
- A current valid driver’s license is required.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED and/or an associate degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited college or university; or a technical school certification and/or 5 years of equivalent work experience in social services.
- Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in providing data entry and/or customer service in a social services agency or non-profit agency, exhibiting a passion for working with low-income clients.
- Fluency in Spanish, a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Sits, stands, lifts and moves intermittently during work hours.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and often high-stress environment as well as the ability to adapt quickly to workload changes.
- Ability to deal with inside and outside clientele and vendors in a diplomatic and courteous manner while assuring adherence to SCCAA policies and procedures.
Working Conditions:
- Various noises associated with an office setting.
- Exposure to toner and other chemicals used in copiers, fax machines and other office equipment.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals such as dish detergent, window cleaner.
Details: Full time. First Shift (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). 40 hours/week. Monday through Friday. $18.00/hour.
Qualifications: Associate degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited college or university; or a technical school certification and/or 5 years of equivalent work experience in social services. Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in providing data entry and/or customer service in a social services agency or non-profit agency Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
Driver’s License Requirement(s): Must have a valid driver’s license.
