Position Summary
The Powder Coater is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal parts using powder coating equipment and processes. This role ensures that all parts meet quality, thickness, and appearance standards while following proper safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized work area. The Powder Coater supports production flow by performing consistent, accurate, and efficient coating operations. In this role, the Powder Coater will receive day-to-day direction from the Powder Lead.

Starting Wage: $21 Per Hour
Duties and Responsibilities
- Update work orders into next stations in real time as progress occurs.
- Ensure all work in process matches Steelhead data for Work Order number, scope, materials used, and quantity.
- Deplete material used within Steelhead as work progresses.
- Perform assigned maintenance items in Steelhead, when applicable.
- Apply powder coating to parts according to job specifications, and visual standards.
- Set and adjust powder guns, flow rate, and spray patterns based on material and color.
- Ensure even coverage, correct film thickness, and consistent finish quality.
- Perform touch-ups and re-spray parts as needed.
- Inspect, clean, and prepare parts for coating (washing, wiping, masking, plugging).
- Verify parts are free of oil, moisture, rust, and contamination.
- Properly rack, hang, and stage parts according to size, weight, and coating requirements.
- Inspect parts for coverage, adhesion, cure, defects, and overall finish.
- Identify and report defects, equipment issues, and nonconforming products.
- Follow production schedule and maintain required throughput.
- Communicate issues that may affect safety, quality, or production flow.
- Wear required PPE (respirator, gloves, safety glasses, protective clothing).
- Follow powder procedures.
- Keep booth area clean and organized, minimizing overspray and tripping hazards.
- Comply with company safety policies
- This position safeguards Colonial’s information network with user access privileges.

Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with powder coating, industrial painting, or spray finishing (preferred)
- Ability to operate powder guns
- Good understanding of coating defects
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards
- Ability to lift-up to 50 pounds
- Willingness to complete in-house training on equipment, safety, and coating specifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
