Maintenance Mechanic

Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for installing, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining production machinery, facility systems, and equipment. This position supports manufacturing operations by ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and performing preventative and corrective maintenance activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain production, processing, and finishing equipment
  • Provide maintenance support for manufacturing equipment, facility systems, and building infrastructure.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and identify root causes of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
  • Disassemble and reassemble machinery to repair or replace defective components.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and testing equipment to troubleshoot machinery and systems.
  • Test, align, calibrate, and verify operating performance of production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, electrical circuits, and automated systems.
  • Complete maintenance reports, documentation, and purchase requests as needed.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and other departments to support operational goals.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining industrial machinery and automated equipment.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, electrical controls, analog and digital electronics.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Computer proficiency, including word processing, email, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work assigned shifts as required.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum three years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Electronics technician certification preferred or required based on employer standards.
  • Experience with industrial electrical systems, mechanical drives, pneumatics, hydraulics, plumbing, and facility maintenance preferred.
  • Experience working within quality and safety programs is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around industrial equipment.
